Chicago Deep Dish Pizza Night
It’s one of the most hotly contested debates in the culinary world is, Thin Crust or Deep Dish?
Well, we’ve had Pizza everywhere from Napoli to Sicily and New York to Chicago and for us nothing comes close to the life changing experience of a Chicago Deep Dish Pizza, when it’s done right.
So what makes it stand out from the rest? Well no one thing to be honest… other than it doesn’t look like any pizza you’re used it. The cheese goes directly on to the crust, then the “toppings” and then the pizza sauce goes on the top - An upside down pizza if you will. Chicago Deep Dish is all about 3 things - the Layers!
- The Crust : Nothing like the pizza dough you’re used to from mainstream chains. Chicago Deep Dish is a flaky, buttery and slightly sweet “Pie Crust” …and as a maker of British Pies, I really mean… pie crust!
- The Sauce : Not some watery marinara base with some oregano tossed in but this is a thick, sweet and tangy sauce which is slowly reduced down until it is bursting with fresh flavors!
- The Cheese. Primarily mozzarella but all manner of house blends are common. One thing’s for sure - there’s plenty of it… and remember, the cheese goes on the bottom!
